Robust method for iohexol and para-aminohippuric acid analysis in plasma
For new drug candidates that are potentially affecting the renal function the assessment of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and the effective renal plasma flow (ERPF) may be helpful to test nephrotoxicity.
GFR and ERPF can be analysed experimentally using iohexol and para-aminohippuric acid as marker compounds for intra-venous infusion and measuring the plasma clearance of both compounds.
MLM has successfully established and validated a fast and robust HPLC-method that allows for simulanteous assessment of both compounds with good precision and accuracy. This method has already been applied in clinical studies and is available for new projects.
